Design stage

first thing to be done is to measure up areas and angles not to mention taking into account the areas of access
e.g. drainage access to drainage and access to other important parts of the garden e.g. outside tap which all need to be taken into consideration when designing the gardens features on paper

Progress

underneath the 20" of top soil there is poor quality chalky soil which is great for drainage so i dug a couple of small ditches around the front part of the decking and filled them with agragate
Also to note that there is a slight decline from the house at just under 10 ml for drainage

The natural wood back panels come completely away for garden storage
E.g. plant pots, garden hose and easy access to kitchen drainage,
Not to mention that the outside tap is situated on the wall
As shown below

These holes at the top of the seating area have a thick membraine that later was filled with compost and plants of choise (in this case lavender was prefered)

The main areas of interest is the double beam at the front to give extra strength and durability were you will be stepping of onto the proposed path as the back yard is the main throughway.

On the second day in the flag stones were removed and the ground preparation was done so all that was left was to lay the beams on the ground to get a good idea were everything would be going

Gradual process of deking

The below shows the gradual work being done over a period of 3 days

End result

As you can see the garden was not much to look at in the beginning but with a little hard work and some good planning the end result was something quite wonderful.

A child friendly and elegant design with functionality
